Lusail Multipurpose Hall

Yesterday the 15^th of January, 2015 it was the opening ceremony of world handball cup in Qatar. the opening ceremony was held in  Lusail Multipurpose Hall. Beside the Handball the hall serve other disciplines. Dar alhandsa-the designer- declared that the design is a form of the main three elements of Qatar, Pearl, Sand and water. The form of the building is following the Deconstructivism. The shocking information about the building is having 3 stars of GSAS. It’s really unexpected a form like that could meet the requirements of sustainability. The other issue is that the whole building is covered by the colored broken glass. The U value of the glass is really high, so to cool down the building needs to consume a lot energ. I hope that really the building is meeting the sustainability requirements because Qatar does not need another monster shape to kill the environment. Moreover,  the carbon footprint emission is the highest in Qatar , so we have to consider sustainability as a priority in the design and construction phases more than the city Image!
